For organizations. Go to Sales, then Donations.

  1. Choose Look up your organization in the IRS's list. We find it in the IRS's public list of tax-exempt organizations and fill in your legal name, EIN, and whether you're a 501(c)(3). Check them and choose Save. Or enter them yourself, ticking We're a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization if you are.
  2. Choose up to four amounts to suggest. Donors can also choose their own.
  3. Choose Take donations on my site. A Donate button appears at the top of your site.

Donors give once or monthly, by card, into your Stripe account. Every gift gets a receipt by email with your legal name, EIN, the amount, the date, and a note that no goods or services were provided. Only 501(c)(3) organizations' receipts say the gift is tax-deductible. Each January, donors get a summary of last year's gifts for their taxes.

Monthly gifts are charged on the same day each month. If a card is declined, we try again twice over the next week and let the donor give with a new card. Donors can stop their gift from the link in any receipt, and you can stop it from Donations.

You can also record gifts by cash or check (the donor gets a receipt) and refund any gift. Your site gets a Donation information page explaining all of this.
